Back to Playa work & adventures!
Wednesday, August 6, 2008, 10:41 AM - ME
We are back to Playa del Carmen for a couple of weeks, we have 3 weddings and a TTD to shoot, after that honeymoon!!!
It's not all work, living in this wonderful paradise you have to enjoy it!, so last week we went on adventure to swimm with the "Whale Shark" this a gently creature that cruises this oceans to feed this time of year.
This is a nature spectacle, if you are around during Jun-Aug, definitely go out and take this tour adventure.
We have new toys!... housings for our video and 5D camera, so Matt made a cool video and took some amazing photos swimming with our new friend.
To see the video click here:
Swimming with the Whale Shark VIDEO!!
Matt is sooo excited with his new camera/housing!
So here's Matt, swimming so fast to be in front of the shark, and holding the heavy camera to take a self portrait... he's crazy!... but I love this photo, how cool is that?
After swimming with the shark we went to snorkel in a reef, while our captain prepared a yummi ceviche to eat... now it's me playing with the 5d on the housing taking reef photos...It will take me a while to master it, it's kind of hard to be adjusting the camera settings while the current is dragging me against the reefs... but definitively I enjoy it a lot!
King of the ocean! .. (haha..)
Come to Playa!!! and live the adventures with us!!

Sara & A.C Wedding at Iberostar Riviera Maya
Saturday, July 5, 2008, 11:23 AM - Iberostar Paraiso Lindo
Sara & A.C's wedding was wonderful, held at Iberostar Maya Resort, ceremony was at the Mexican Gazebo in the Plaza, so very mexican feeling to their celebration.
We had lots of time to tour around the hotel taking photos at different locations.

Here are a few of my favorites from the day
I shoot this photo from inside the looby, the pyramid is the roof of the main bar, I use a little "flashflavor" to light the ceiling giving the photo texture and deep of field. Iberostar did an awesome job with this replica of Chichen Itza.
Sara trying to relax in the balcony before putting her dress on
As any guym the groom, AC was ready and got to go in two minutes. Later her mom deliver his tie and the attire was complete
Sara looked amazing, I used a backsunlight to light her veil, love this photo. Check out more at the slideshow
This was one of the last photos of the day, we were walking around the resort looking for nice spots for photos, I loved this corridor and asked Sara to "dance" to show up her amazing dress.

Mateo & Sol - new adventure coming!
Thursday, June 26, 2008, 10:32 AM - NEWS
This weekend is the beginning of a new life adventure for Matt and I. When we first meet he was living full time in Atlanta, and I spent quite some time in that house. We bought our first home in the states, not in the big city... but in a gorgeous lake that is located 2 hours from Atlanta, Lake Martin.
We have been pretty much traveling back and forth from "Casa del Sol" in Playa del Carmen, to Atlanta, specially Matt, who has been shooting weddings in the states this season too.
This weekend we are moving out from Atlanta to Alabama... I love the south and their lovely people!.. We got married (the legal part) there and we hope to have new adventures and happiness in this new home.
I will post photos when we settle.. we will spent part of our summers there and holidays... but we will be most of the time in Playa del Carmen.
Being married is amazing!, and it seems that new adventures are coming all the time!
Please be patience with us, we are getting tons of inquires and it's hard to keep up in the middle of this, hopefully next week we will be all fixed up at the lake, and we'll get back to everybody that has email us.
Have a fabulous weekend! we'll be on the road!!!
I flew yesterday to Atlanta, Matt was already there
Hola Big city!
Packing up my room
Guero (Matt) is in charge of the office
This is were were are going!!!!!!
So beach or lake.. we will be on the water!!!

Rubi&Shane wedding at Esencia
Monday, June 23, 2008, 08:59 PM - Hotel Esencia
This entry is about a wonderful wedding I photograph last April at one of the most beautiful and unique places in the Riviera Maya Hotel Esencia .
This boutique hotel is located in the best beach around, and everything about it is so perfect... like paradise..
On top of it, everybody is so nice, that I have to say, I love love this place!!
Rubi & Shane's wedding was held at the garden, it was a very special ceremony, Rubi is latino and many of her family members where here, Shane is from the US, and see how two families from different cultures can merge so nice is really great.

In Loving Memory...
Wednesday, June 18, 2008, 07:55 PM - NEWS
I just received an email from April, a bride that Matt and I photographed last Feb 2nd 2007.
"Sol & Matt,
Two and a half weeks ago I had to do something that no daughter ever should have to do... I had to prepare the photos of my Dad for his memorial service. My Dad passed away on May 30. It was very sudden, unexpected, and completely devastating. Some of my favorite photos of my family and friends were taken by you at our wedding, as I'm sure is the case with many brides. But now those photos take on a whole new significance. I've always felt lucky to have such gorgeous images from my wedding. Now I also feel blessed to have such beautiful memories of my Dad. I can't thank you both enough for that.
Sorry to contact you on this note, but I felt compelled to let you know how grateful I am. Your talent still amazes me. I've been keeping up w/ your blogs. Flashflavor rocks. I'm so happy for you both for all your success... it's very much deserved.
Abrazos,
~April"
With tears on my eyes I'm posting this images that mean so much in this moments
Our job as wedding photographers it's a serious responsibility , in our hands and cameras relies the power to capture images like this, that will be a family legacy for the future, and a very important way to remember those that we love the most that one day will be gone from our side.
April, we love you., from the bottom of our hearts we send you and your family our deepest condolences., your dad was a very sensitive men that adore you, and this images prove how much you meant to him.
Thanks a lot for sharing your life with us. We are touched.
Mr. Gerges, we honor your memory and will remember you forever

Vanessa + Wes Trash the Dress at the beach
Friday, May 30, 2008, 06:11 PM - Trash the Dress
Vanessa & Wes had their wedding at Moon Palace and the next day we did a "Trash the Dress"... in this kind of sessions the stress of the wedding is over, is all about enjoying each other, have fun and let me shoot some art.
Of course is not all about the photogapher and the camera, the main ingredient is LOVE and the easy going personality that is down for anything in the name of art.
We went to a beach that is pretty well located next to a "junglish" area , so we have a dynamic session combining the 4 elements:
FIRE for LOVE!
EARTH - as they lie in the floor merging with the dry leaves under a tree
WATER - Of course we went for a swim!
And WIND - that graciously play with the dress and veil..
Isn't it awesome??
I climb a tree to get this angle, the wind was moving the branches where i was standing, I was holding my breath.. so worth it!!
Vanessa's huge smile say it all!!
